Yellow Colour Week. Week Ending: 19.01.18

Hello,

This week it is colour week. Chestnut Class' colour is yellow. For home learning we brought in a yellow object from home. We had a yellow skateboard, yellow teddy, yellow book and a yellow flower in our small world tray, alongside lots of other yellow bits!

This week in maths we have been learning about data. We collected information on our favourite colours using a tally chart. Then we turned it into a bar graph on the laptops.

We tried a piece of banana, pineapple and lemon as part of a yellow fruit tasting activity.
"The lemon tasted very sour." Annabelle
"The pineapple was juicy." Georgina
"The banana was quite mushy." Jack

In English we wrote our own colour poems.
"What is blue? the sky is blue where the clouds like to move." Clara
"What is red? a toy car is red, driving near the bed." Emily.Cr
"What is green? a leaf is green, in the shimmering trees." Zanthi

In art we have been thinking about our observations. We used our sketching skills to draw lemons, yellow flowers, peppers and a banana.

With Mrs Couch we did a magic trick which involved a banana...

During science we made our own butter by shaking cream and a marble together for 10 minutes!

Well done to Austin who is Star of the Week for his good listening.

Congratulations to Harry.G who will be spending the weekend with Tweet for taking responsibility for his learning.

Home learning is to research a wild animal's habitat and record in your own way.

Next Thursday we are going on our school trip. Remember to wear a warm coat and bring in your permission slip.
