Cultural Week- Africa. Week Ending: 20.10.17

Hello, This week it was Cultural Week and we were learning about Africa. We learnt about the seven continents and we sang a song to help us.  We did art work on African animals and we focused on the patterns, shapes and colours we could see.  After half term it is Chestnut's sharing assembly. Today we sent home our lines so please practise these over the half term.  Today we are wearing non- uniform because we are raising money to buy a block of toilets for a village in Africa. We had great fun with Michael who taught us some African dancing! We loved moving to the music! Autumn Challenge is to have a go at the match box activity.  When we come back after half term during maths we will be thinking about money. So have a go at handling money and working out change over half term.  " My favourite part this week was designing my own pattern." Jemima This week Tweet will not be going home with anyone, he will be swooping around the classroom having fun and

The Gingerbread Man. Week Ending: 13.10.17

This week we have become authors as we wrote a retelling of The Gingerbread Man. Today we recieved 2 marbles for our fantastic concentration and detailed story writing. This weekend Georgina will be taking home Tweet our Learning Owl for her participation in whole class discussions and for always being ready for her learning. Star of the Week was awarded to Zac for being a brilliant role model to others in the class and around the school. During maths this week we have been adding and subtracting 10. We commented on similarities and differences between the tens and the ones. We designed our own seed in science and thought about how the seed would disperse. Some of our seeds would disperse by wind, by being shook or by travelling on water. In PSHE we have been learning about feelings and we came up with strategies on how to overcome some of our feelings, such as if we were worried we would talk to some one. If we felt angry we might count to 10 or take deep breaths

50th Birthday Celebrations! Week Ending: 06.10.17

Hello, We have had a fantastic week at school. On Monday we had a party day because we celebrated the school's 50th birthday. We played party games, made crowns and all sat in the hall to share some birthday cake. We also made rice krispie cakes and then wrote instructions teaching others how to make rice krispie cakes. We used imperative verbs and numbered bullet points.  Today we had a skipping workshop. Some of us demonstrated our skipping skills during the skipping assembly.  Clara was able to skip with a skipping rope whilst also skipping within a bigger skipping rope! During English we read The Gingerbread Man and and came up with verbs that the Gingerbread Man could do. Some of us came up with our own repeated phrases. Hop, hop as high as you can. Jog, jog as fast as you can.  Well done to Tommie for being the Star of the Week as Tommie is kind and caring towards others.  Congratulaitons to Ralphie who will be spending the weekend with Tweet our Le
