From a Railway Carriage. Week Ending: 27.4.18


In maths this week we have been measuring. We used measuring jugs to work out how many ml each container could hold. We compared the weight of different objects using the < > sign. 

 During science we carried out our own experiment to test how far cars would travel and we recorded the distance. Some of us changed the material that the cars travelled on, some groups changed the cars and other groups changed the height of the ramp. 

 Today we are wearing sports clothes to raise awareness of the Redbourn Fun Run that is taking place on Sunday 20th May. 21 children in Chestnut will be taking part! 

 We read a poem about called 'From a Railway Carriage' and we became detectives as we searched for the verbs and plural words. 

 Well done to Oliver who is our Star of the Week for helping others with their learning.

 Tweet will be spending the weekend with Tommie because he persevered with his reading and maths.

Hello, Today was 'Glow Day' we wore bright clothes to remind people about being seen in the dark. When you are out at night remember to stay with the adult you are with.  This morning was our fantastic sharing assembly! we impressed all our grown ups and adults with our learning so far this term. What a Busy Week... Week Ending: 10.11.17

Hello,  On Thursday we played basketball and had a go at some dribbling skills. Take a look at the photographs on our Year 2 page.  This week Tweet will be going home with Oliver for his 'have a go' attitude and perseverance with his learning.  Well done to Emily who is Star of the Week for supporting others with their learning.  In English we made our own firework poems and put these all together to make a Chestnut Class poetry book.  In maths we have been learning about empty number lines and we used this strategy to help us take away. When you take away you always start with the biggest number.  This week we have been doing some firework dancing we thought about the shape and patterns that fireworks create.  We cannot wait to watch the Music Assembly this afternoon. Harry, Emily, Ben and Emily will be performing in it.  Miss Hoad has set us a challenge. If we get 19 or more comments on our blog we will earn 2 marbles!  This week we have been wearing poppie

Year 2 Trip to Worburn Safari Park. Week Ending: 26.1.18

Hello, Yesterday we went on a school trip to Woburn Safari Park. "My favourite part was seeing the tigers" Ben "My favourite part was seeing the penguins" Georgina "My favourite part was seeing the squirrel monkeys" Austin "My favourite part was going on the foot safari" Will. We included some expanded noun phrases, time conjunctions and detail about our brilliant trip. Today we welcomed a new member to Chestnut Class called Michael.  Don't forget next Friday is the school disco and NSPCC Number Day. You can come to school in non-uniform and wear a number.
