Countdown to Christmas!

Hello,

Today is the first day of December and Harry Timms opened the first door on our Advent Calendar - yum!

This week in Maths we have been learning how to divide.  Division means we share a number into equal parts.  15 divided by 3 = 5.  We have been using cubes and cups and drawing arrays to help us get to the answer.

In English, we have been learning about explanations.  We labelled an explanation about how chocolate is made.  We used pictures and wrote our own explanations.  We have also been writing creatively this week and describing our own chocolate room, using Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as our inspiration.

We have been learning about materials in Science.  Some materials, like metal, are strong.  Next week in Science we will be doing our own experiment with chocolate!

Well done to Mehdi for getting this week's star award.  He has shown good caring this week with his friends. 

Tweet will be flying home with Ramana this weekend as she has shown that she is always ready for her learning.  Well done Ramana.

Home learning this week is to practise our lines at home.

    I enjoyed learning how to divide in Maths.

    I enjoyed doing our own Chocolate rooms. I created a room with a curly wurly bridge over a candy floss volcano. There were chocolate oranges falling off the bridge into a chocolate orange river. There was also a candy cane forest.

    I can't wait for Christmas and I got a letter from Santa and he said that he would be able to deliver yeezy Kanye west trainers. I enjoyed English speaking about how chocolate is made and this afternoon we had a feel of chocolate and Mrs Couch let us lick our hands when we had chocolate all over them Zac had chocolate all over his mouth and cheeks we all laughed out loud and he laughed out loud:-)

Hello, Today was 'Glow Day' we wore bright clothes to remind people about being seen in the dark. When you are out at night remember to stay with the adult you are with.  This morning was our fantastic sharing assembly! we impressed all our grown ups and adults with our learning so far this term. We enjoyed showing off our Learning Owl skills with you all- we hope you enjoyed it! During Creative Writing we became fireworks and we wrote a firework diary. What a Busy Week... Week Ending: 10.11.17

Hello,  On Thursday we played basketball and had a go at some dribbling skills. Take a look at the photographs on our Year 2 page.  This week Tweet will be going home with Oliver for his 'have a go' attitude and perseverance with his learning.  Well done to Emily who is Star of the Week for supporting others with their learning.  In English we made our own firework poems and put these all together to make a Chestnut Class poetry book.  In maths we have been learning about empty number lines and we used this strategy to help us take away. When you take away you always start with the biggest number.  This week we have been doing some firework dancing we thought about the shape and patterns that fireworks create.  We cannot wait to watch the Music Assembly this afternoon. Harry, Emily, Ben and Emily will be performing in it.  Miss Hoad has set us a challenge. If we get 19 or more comments on our blog we will earn 2 marbles!  This week we have been wearing poppie

Year 2 Trip to Worburn Safari Park. Week Ending: 26.1.18

Hello, Yesterday we went on a school trip to Woburn Safari Park. "My favourite part was seeing the tigers" Ben "My favourite part was seeing the penguins" Georgina "My favourite part was seeing the squirrel monkeys" Austin "My favourite part was going on the foot safari" Will. We included some expanded noun phrases, time conjunctions and detail about our brilliant trip. Today we welcomed a new member to Chestnut Class called Michael.  Don't forget next Friday is the school disco and NSPCC Number Day. You can come to school in non-uniform and wear a number.
